Frequently asked questions

How AniGems scores work and what they can tell you.

How is the AniGems Global Score calculated?

AniGems converts eligible scores to a 10-point scale and weights each by log10 of its rating count. A platform needs a valid score and more than one rating to contribute. The Global Score is the weighted average of those scores.

Why compare MyAnimeList, Bangumi, Filmarks and Gamer?

The same anime can receive different scores on each site. AniGems shows them side by side so you can check where the platforms agree, where scores differ, and which titles you want to explore.

Does a higher Global Score mean I’ll enjoy an anime more?

A score is a guide, not a promise. Check the premise, genres, rating counts and individual platform scores before choosing. Each site has its own users and rating habits; a combined score does not remove those differences.

How current are the anime scores?

Scores reflect the database bundled with the latest site build. Check the update times on each anime’s page. Scores can change on the source sites before AniGems updates.
